Sugarcane Plantations

The hike begins at the Levada Nova entrance in Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque fishing village known for its vibrant streets and vibrant local culture. The path follows the levada, a water channel built to irrigate the fertile agricultural lands, and takes hikers through sugarcane plantations, which are one of the oldest crops in Madeira.

As hikers progress along the trail they can admire the stunning views of the nearby sea and the surrounding mountains. The trail is relatively easy, with a few steep and narrow sections, and visitors can take their time to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area.

Along the way, visitors will also get a glimpse into the local farming and agricultural practices, as they pass by farmers tending to their crops and animals.
